Join Liz H Lovell  in this paint and sip class (BYO) which provides a relaxed and fun filled atmosphere to treat you and your friends, family  or colleagues with an art therapy fix.

Come along and end up with a beautiful artwork to commemorate the occasion and hang up at home at this fun and relaxing inner city Sydney workshop.

Knowledge required: Beginner friendly

What you'll get:

  • 30 cm x 30 cm fluro acrylic pour painting on stretched canvas..

What to bring:

  • An apron or wear casual clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on.

  • You are welcome to bring your own materials and choose a photo that you can work on individually or as a group.  Whether it be your favourite painting, landscape photo, pet portrait or portraits of one another or still life abstract that you wish to explore.

All Materials Supplied: A small canvas (to take home) , brushes, canvas paper and paints will be provided. 

Aim: The workshop will begin with exploring the basic techniques that convey a sense of light, shadow and sculptural 3D form.

About your teacher, Liz.

Liz H Lovell is a Sydney based artist with artwork predominantly based on observations of nature. Her workshops are about encouraging different expressions of creativity and having a great fun relaxing time, while going home with a piece of art that you didn’t know you could create before.

My artworks are predominantly based on my observations of nature. I like to apply a blend of impressionism and realism for emotional aesthetics.

Artworks are based on either:

  • Observation of symbiotic relationships;

  •  Interconnectedness of different forms.

Studying nature in my daily life and when travelling as well as keeping a sketchbook help to conceptualise ideas for my artworks.

Built my first site in 2000 and steadily learned what it takes to make websites work. Dabbled in WordPress back then, still do. Since building my first Squarespace site in 2016, I’ve been impressed with the relatively streamlined approach to website design and development that Squarespace offers compared to WordPress. SEO was a major challenge from the start — I’ve spent a lot of time keeping up with what’s required to get sites working, ranking well on a SERP. I have confidence with what Squarespace offers for SEO.

Having worked for more than 10 years in the web team of an inland, regional university in Australia and dealing with frustrations that come with working for a large corporate enterprise, the idea of setting up my own web design business became my goal.

Set up my business in late 2017. Opted for a sea change, too: I now live on Coochiemudlo Island 45 minutes from Brisbane. Love working from home. Love working for small business clients. Still get casual work with the university.

Challenges? The main one is pricing my work for small businesses. Doing quality work, doing the research to be up to date in the industry, takes time; it’s hard to factor in this time to my pricing while being competitive in the market and affordable for many small businesses.
